Style on a budget

Want style on a budget?

It might sound like the impossible dream when renovating a bathroom, but you can achieve a stylish, luxury bathroom without sending your budget through the roof.

Here’s some tips to show you how…

  • Go for a bathroom design that’s tasteful and classic, by using white as your base colour and injecting other colours through your towels and accessories.
  • Use large format tiles, on the walls as well as the floors, as a cost effective tiling solution that will always look smart.
  • Consider using a combination of tiles and painting, rather than floor to ceiling tiling.
  • Choose a single-basin vanity rather than double, as long as it gives you enough bench space. Also, wall mounted vanities give the impression of more floor area and are at less risk of being water damaged in the long term.
  • Consider whether you really need that bathtub or spa??? With water costs on the rise, installing a bathtub or spa may not be the best use of money or space if you’re not going to use it too often.
  • In the shower, try and keep floor tiles around 100mm to 200mm square, to allow good fall to the floor grate.
  • Don’t worry about spending a bomb on your loo. It is, after all, just a loo!
  • Avoid buying your bathroom products from a range of different bathroom suppliers. Choose a package from just one supplier to save on the overall cost. Reece offers our customers gorgeous packages to suit all types of budgets.
  • Add extra style to your bathroom makeover with cost-effective finishes like plants, shells, candles and oil burners.

Creating a feature in your bathroom

Luxury Bathrooms - Tuesday, May 25, 2010
Sometimes our clients find it hard to choose their new bathroom products, especially when they have a firm budget and the products they like most are beyond that budget.

It’s not easy when you’re standing in the middle of a product showroom surrounded by the latest styles and enough gorgeous products to make your head spin!

In this case, we’ll often advise our clients to focus on one main feature for their bathroom. It might be a beautiful bathtub or basins, an ornate mirror, striking tapware or great looking tiles. If you  invest in one feature that you really love, you can afford to spend less on the other elements in your bathroom. That’s because you will have a stand-out piece that will be the ‘signature’ of your bathroom and enhance its overall appeal.

Having one main feature also helps ensure your bathroom appears ‘clean’, stylish and smart – which is the key to timeless design.
